Zach Lavine Biography

Zachary Thomas LaVine, born March 10, 1995, is an American professional basketball player who has played for the Sacramento Kings in the National Basketball Association. Selected 13th overall in the 2014 NBA draft, he was chosen by the Minnesota Timberwolves to begin his professional career. He has been named an NBA All-Star in 2021 and 2022 while playing for the Chicago Bulls. LaVine earned a gold medal as a member of the 2020 U.S. Olympic basketball team in Tokyo. As a rookie with Minnesota, he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and was recognized with a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. On June 20, 2012, he committed to play college basketball at UCLA starting in 2013 under coach Ben Howland. After a strong start to the 2013–14 season, he demonstrated outside shooting and explosive dunks while playing as a sixth man.
