Zach Edey, born on May 14, 2002, is a Canadian professional basketball player who has played in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies. He played college basketball for the Purdue Boilermakers, leading the team to the NCAA Division I men's basketball championship game in his final season. At the close of the 2023 season, Edey was named Big Ten Player of the Year and consensus National Player of the Year, repeating both honors in 2024. Edey has competed in national team events for Canada, representing the country in international competition. He was listed at 7 feet 4 inches and 2.24 meters during his freshman season at Purdue University, making him the tallest player in Big Ten history. On February 26, 2022, Edey recorded a career-high 25 points in 22 minutes during a 68–65 loss to Michigan State. Zach Edey earned six Big Ten Player of the Week honors in the 2022–23 season, matching the school record set by Caleb Swanigan in 2016–17 and placing second in conference history behind Evan Turner's 2009–10 total.
