Wade Anthony Boggs, born June 15, 1958, earned the nickname "Chicken Man" as a prominent American professional baseball third baseman. He played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball, spending most of his career with the Boston Red Sox. Boggs also played for the New York Yankees from 1993 to 1997, winning the 1996 World Series, and concluded his career with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1998 and 1999. He became the 23rd player in MLB history to record 3,000 career hits, a major milestone in his career. With 12 straight All-Star appearances, Boggs ranks third among third basemen for consecutive selections, behind only Brooks Robinson and George Brett. Wade Boggs, a left-handed batter, secured five batting championships starting in 1983. From 1983 to 1989, he achieved seven straight seasons with 200 or more hits, a record for consecutive 200-hit seasons in the American League.
