Vladimir Nikolaevich Konstantinov, born 19 March 1967, played his entire NHL career from 1991 to 1997 with the Detroit Red Wings. Prior to joining the NHL, he competed for the Soviet club CSKA Moscow. Drafted 221st overall in 1989, he caught attention after a notable performance at the 1987 World Junior Championships. A Russian journalist assisted in securing an army discharge that enabled his NHL move. He earned the NHL Plus/Minus Award in 1995–96, recording a +60 difference. During the 1996–97 season, he contributed to the Red Wings’ victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in the Stanley Cup Final. The 1996–97 season marked the end of his professional hockey career.
