Urban Meyer Biography

Urban Frank Meyer III was born on July 10, 1964, and is an American football coach and former sportscaster. Urban Meyer held head coaching positions at Bowling Green from 2001 to 2002, Utah from 2003 to 2004, Florida from 2005 to 2010, and Ohio State from 2012 to 2018. In 2021, he returned from retirement to become head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but was fired after a 2–11 record in 13 games. Through the end of the 2009 season, his winning percentage of .842 was the highest among active FBS coaches with at least five full seasons. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2025. Shortly after high school graduation, he was drafted in the 13th round of the 1982 MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves as a shortstop. He earned his master's degree in sports administration from Ohio State University in 1988.
