Tyrann Mathieu Biography

Tyrann Mathieu was born on May 13, 1992, and has played 12 seasons in the National Football League as a professional safety. He played college football for the LSU Tigers, where he earned the nickname Honey Badger and set an SEC record with 11 career forced fumbles. Mathieu was selected to the first-team All-Pro team three times and the second-team All-Pro team once, including a dual selection in 2019. He has played for the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, and New Orleans Saints during his NFL career. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Mathieu attended St. Augustine High School and played for the St. Augustine Purple Knights football team. He earned a second-place finish at the 2010 LHSAA Track & Field State Championship. Mathieu accepted an athletic scholarship to Louisiana State University and played for the LSU Tigers from 2010 to 2011.
