Tua Tagovailoa Biography

Tua Tagovailoa, born on March 2, 1998, is an American professional football quarterback who has played in the National Football League. He was named Offensive MVP of the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship during his freshman year at Alabama. As a sophomore, Tagovailoa won the Maxwell and Walter Camp awards and helped lead Alabama to the 2019 National Championship game. He began his NFL career alternating between backup and starter roles before becoming the primary quarterback in 2021. Tagovailoa led the league in passer rating during 2022 and in passing yards during 2023, earning Pro Bowl honors in the latter year. In 2016, he threw for 2,669 passing yards and 27 touchdowns during his high school season. Tagovailoa was ranked as a four-star recruit in the 2017 recruiting cycle and was the top high school prospect in Hawaii.
