Troy Aikman, born November 21, 1966, played 12 seasons as a professional quarterback in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. After transferring from the University of Oklahoma, he played college football for UCLA and won the Davey O'Brien Award in 1988. Selected first overall in the 1989 NFL draft, Aikman played his entire career with the Dallas Cowboys and earned six Pro Bowl selections. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008. Aikman co-owned Hall of Fame Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series from 2005 to 2009 and is a part-owner of the San Diego Padres in MLB. The New York Mets offered him a contract after high school, but he chose football and played under coach Barry Switzer at Oklahoma. In 1985, his first full season as a starter, Aikman led the Sooners to victories over Minnesota, Kansas State, and No. 17 Texas before a broken ankle ended his season.
