Tony Greene Biography

Anthony Jerome Greene, born on August 29, 1949, was an American professional football player who played as a safety in the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Maryland before joining the NFL. Greene recorded the longest interception return in Buffalo Bills history with a 101-yard touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in 1976. He spent nine seasons with the Buffalo Bills from 1971 to 1979, primarily serving as a free safety after playing cornerback. Greene finished his tenure with the Bills holding 37 interceptions, a total that ranked second among franchise safeties. He earned first-team All-Pro honors in 1974 and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1977. His NFL career included 128 games, 103 starts, 628 interception-return yards, and two interception-return touchdowns.
