Tommy Joseph Biography

Thomas Richard Joseph, born on July 16, 1991, is an American former professional baseball player who served as the assistant hitting coach for the Baltimore Orioles in Major League Baseball. He played in MLB for the Philadelphia Phillies during the 2016 and 2017 seasons and later competed in the KBO League with the LG Twins. Joseph is the only player in MLB history to have hit at least 20 home runs in two separate seasons without playing another season in the league. He played baseball for Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he was a key contributor to the school's team. The San Francisco Giants drafted Joseph in the second round with the 55th overall pick in the 2009 MLB draft, selecting him as a catcher and first baseman. In 2010, he earned recognition as a South Atlantic League all-star for his performance with the Augusta GreenJackets. Joseph played for the Richmond Flying Squirrels in the Double–A Eastern League in 2012 and was selected to appear in the All-Star Futures Game that year.
