Tommie James Frazier Jr. was born on July 16, 1974, and played college football as a quarterback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He earned consensus All-American honors during the 1995 season while playing for Nebraska. Frazier led the Nebraska Cornhuskers to national championships in both 1994 and 1995, joining a select group of quarterbacks since the 1950s to achieve this feat. In 1999, Sports Illustrated named him a backup quarterback on their NCAA Football All-Century Team, which included 85 players from across college football history. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2013, recognizing his contributions to the sport. Frazier received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football program. He joined the Nebraska football team as a true freshman in 1992, standing 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 190 pounds, initially serving as a backup to senior Mike Grant.
