Tom Seaver, born November 17, 1944, was an American professional baseball pitcher who played 20 seasons in Major League Baseball. He played for the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, and Boston Red Sox from 1967 to 1986. Seaver won the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 1967 and earned the NL Cy Young Award in 1969, 1973, and 1975. During his MLB career, Seaver recorded 311 wins, 3,640 strikeouts, 61 shutouts, and a 2.86 earned run average, including a no-hitter in 1978. After six months of active duty in the reserve, Seaver enrolled at Fresno City College. In 1965, as a sophomore, Seaver achieved a 10–2 win-loss record with the Trojans and was chosen by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the tenth round of the MLB draft. Tom Seaver was chosen by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the secondary January draft, 20th overall, and signed a professional contract with them in 1966.
