Thomas Michael Izzo, born January 30, 1955, has served as head coach at Michigan State University since 1995. On April 4, 2016, Izzo was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. He holds the most wins in Michigan State University basketball history and has led the team to 28 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. Izzo is the longest-tenured coach in Big Ten Conference history, known for his teams' defensive intensity and rebounding ability. On March 8, 2022, he achieved 663 wins, surpassing Bob Knight for the most by a men's basketball coach in Big Ten history. On January 30, 2024, Izzo earned his 700th career victory. He played guard for Northern Michigan University from 1973 to 1977, where he was a teammate and roommate of a future coach.
