Tito Fuentes Biography

Rigoberto Tito Fuentes Peat was born on January 4, 1944, and is a Cuban former professional baseball player. Fuentes played in the major leagues for 13 seasons from 1965 to 1978, primarily as a second baseman. He spent most of his career with the San Francisco Giants. The Giants signed Fuentes as an 18-year-old amateur ahead of the 1962 season. Fuentes played on the Cuba national baseball team during the 1961 Amateur World Series. He made his major league debut on August 18, 1965. In 1977, Fuentes played for the Detroit Tigers and achieved a career-best batting average of .309.
