Tinker Owens Biography

Charles Wayne Tinker Owens played as a wide receiver in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints during the 1976 and 1978–1980 seasons. Tinker Owens earned two-time All-American honors while playing college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, recognized in 1974 and 1975. Oklahoma honored Tinker Owens by inducting him into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. He recorded 70 receptions for 1,619 yards and 11 touchdowns in 45 college games, starting 36 of them. Tinker Owens received first-team All-America recognition in both 1974 and 1975 during his collegiate career. As a freshman, he was named the Sugar Bowl Most Valuable Player after catching five passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. Across four seasons in the NFL, Owens caught 60 passes for 785 yards and four touchdowns.
