Tim Salmon Biography

Timothy James Salmon, born August 24, 1968, is an American former professional baseball player and current sportcaster, nicknamed "King Fish." Tim Salmon spent his entire professional baseball career from 1992 to 2006 with the California, Anaheim, and Los Angeles Angels, playing primarily as an outfielder and designated hitter. Salmon was an integral member of the Angels team that won the 2002 World Series. At the time of his retirement, he held the most home runs in Angels history with 299, a record since surpassed by Mike Trout in 2020. Salmon played multiple roles on his high school football team, primarily as a punter and wide receiver, drawing attention from several college football recruiting staffs. In 1986, as a senior, Salmon played on a Babe Ruth League team that won a state championship. Tim Salmon was chosen by the California Angels in the 1989 MLB draft with the 69th overall selection in the third round.
