Simone Biles Biography

Simone Arianne Biles Owens, born on March 14, 1997, is an American artistic gymnast who has achieved global recognition in the sport. She has earned 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals, making her the most decorated gymnast in history. Biles has won gold on vault in 2016 and 2024, claimed gold on floor in 2016, and earned silver on floor in 2024, along with bronze on balance beam in 2016 and 2020. She led the U.S. team to gold at the 2016 Olympics, known as the Final Five, and again at the 2024 Olympics, known as the Golden Girls. In 2020, she withdrew from most of the competition after the qualification round due to experiencing the twisties, a loss of spatial awareness during twisting skills. Biles has won a record nine U.S. national all-around titles, including in 2013, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024, becoming the oldest female gymnast to win the title in 2024. She is the sixth woman to win both the Olympic and World all-around titles, and the first since Lilia Podkopayeva in 1996 to hold both simultaneously.
