Shane Lowry, born on 2 April 1987, is an Irish professional golfer who has competed on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. He captured the Irish Open as an amateur in 2009 and later claimed victory at the 2019 Open Championship. Lowry was part of the Irish teams that won the European Amateur Team Championship in both 2007 and 2008. In 2021, he expressed his ongoing connection to Offaly, noting his habit of attending games at O'Connor Park and supporting the team from the stands. After winning the 2009 Irish Open, he chose to turn professional, forgoing the opportunity to play in the Walker Cup that September. His first professional victory came in October 2012 at the Portugal Masters. In August 2015, he won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio, finishing two strokes ahead of Bubba Watson.
