Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Biography

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, born on July 12, 1998, is a Canadian professional basketball player who has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA. He has been named to four NBA All-Star Games and has earned four All-NBA First Team selections, along with two NBA Most Valuable Player awards. Gilgeous-Alexander led the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first NBA championship since the team's relocation from Seattle and was honored as Finals MVP. He played one season of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats before entering the NBA draft. In the 2022–23 season, he was selected to his first NBA All-Star Game and earned a spot on the All-NBA First Team, finishing fourth in league scoring with 31.4 points per game. With the Canada men's national basketball team, he won a bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Before moving to the United States in 2015, he transferred to Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School and later attended Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
