Sergei Alexandrovich Zubov, born on 22 July 1970, is a Russian professional ice hockey coach and former defenceman. Zubov has played for the Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League, and SKA Saint Petersburg in the KHL. He was selected by the New York Rangers in the fifth round of the 1990 NHL entry draft. During the 1993–94 season, Zubov recorded 12 goals and 77 assists, leading the team in regular season scoring. On 31 August 1995, he was traded from the New York Rangers to the Pittsburgh Penguins along with Petr Nedvěd in exchange for Ulf Samuelsson and Luc Robitaille. Zubov spent one season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, during which it was reported that he had a strained relationship with team captain Mario Lemieux, particularly regarding powerplay control. In the 2005–06 season, Zubov recorded 71 points, marking his highest total in over a decade, and earned his first Norris Trophy nomination.
