Sebastian Aho Biography

Sebastian Antero Aho, born on 26 July 1997, is a Finnish professional ice hockey forward who serves as an alternate captain for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League. Selected 35th overall in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Aho made his NHL debut during the 2016–17 season after playing in Finland's Liiga with Oulun Kärpät and Ässät. Aho has represented Finland in international competition, earning medals at the World Junior Championships, World Championships, and the 2026 Winter Olympics, where he won bronze. During the 2014–15 Liiga season, Aho scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game seven of the finals, securing the Finnish championship for Kärpät. On 31 January 2017, Aho recorded his first career hat-trick in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers. During the 2018–19 season, Aho set a franchise record by recording a point in 12 consecutive games to start the season, surpassing Ron Francis' previous mark. On 2 January 2019, Aho was named to the 2019 NHL All-Star Game after leading the Hurricanes in goals, assists, and points through 38 games.
