Scott Rolen Biography

Scott Bruce Rolen, born on April 4, 1975, is an American former professional baseball player who played as a third baseman. Rolen has played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball, appearing for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cincinnati Reds from 1996 to 2012. He was named the 1997 National League Rookie of the Year after starting his career with the Philadelphia Phillies. Rolen hit a go-ahead home run off Roger Clemens in Game 7 of the 2004 NLCS and another in Game 1 of the 2006 World Series. He has won eight Gold Glove Awards, the fourth-most among third basemen in MLB history. Rolen was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the second round of the 1993 MLB draft. After attending spring training with the Phillies, he began the 1994 season with the Low A Spartanburg Phillies in the South Atlantic League.
