Sam Huff Biography

Robert Lee Sam Huff was born on October 4, 1934, and passed away on November 13, 2021, becoming a prominent defensive player in the NFL. He played professionally for the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins, and he played college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers. Huff was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1982, having earned recognition as an NFL champion, two-time All-Pro, and five-time Pro Bowl selection. During his college career, he helped lead West Virginia to an undefeated season in 1951. Huff played college football at West Virginia University, where he earned a degree in physical education. He was recognized as a first team Academic All-American for his achievements in the classroom. Huff was selected by the New York Giants in the third round of the 1956 NFL draft.
