Sam Hartman Biography

Sam Hartman, born on July 29, 1999, is an American football quarterback who has played in the National Football League. Hartman competed in five seasons of college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, achieving multiple school records and becoming the all-time leader in passing touchdowns in ACC history. As a high school player at Davidson Day School, Hartman recorded 6,388 passing yards and 69 touchdowns, earning first-team all-state honors and four Charlotte Observer player of the week awards. During his freshman year, Hartman led all NCAA freshmen in offensive yards and recorded two or more touchdown passes in each of the first three games. In 2019, Hartman served as a backup quarterback behind Jamie Newman, appearing in four games and preserving his redshirt status. In 2021, Hartman guided Wake Forest to an 8–0 start, the best in school history, culminating in a trip to the ACC Championship game. In 2022, Hartman played in 12 games, throwing for 3,701 yards and 38 touchdowns, and earned second-team All-ACC honors.
