Roy White Biography

Roy Hilton White, born on December 27, 1943, is an American former professional baseball player and coach. He played his entire major league career as an outfielder for the New York Yankees from 1965 to 1979. White was selected to the American League All-Star team in both 1969 and 1970 as a switch hitter. He led the American League in walks during 1972 and in runs during 1976. Over a 15-year career, White recorded 1,803 hits in 6,650 at bats, batting .271 with a .360 on-base percentage and 758 runs batted in. White served as a Yankees coach for three seasons in the mid-1980s and later returned to the coaching staff in 2004. In 2014, he received a Special Recognition Award from the Order Sons of Italy in America, Columbus Lodge #2143, for his work through the Roy White Foundation.
