Ronde Barber Biography

Jamael Orondé Barber, born on April 7, 1975, played 16 seasons in the National Football League with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He earned third-team All-American honors twice while playing college football for the Virginia Cavaliers. Barber primarily played as a cornerback during his NFL career and transitioned to safety in his final season. The Buccaneers selected him in the third round of the 1997 NFL draft with the 66th overall pick. He was selected to five Pro Bowls and earned three first-team All-Pro and two second-team All-Pro honors. As a senior in 1993, he won the national title in the 55-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 7.18 seconds. In 1994, he returned 10 kickoffs for 171 yards, and in 1996, he returned 3 for 36 yards.
