Robinson Cano Biography

Robinson José Canó Mercedes, born October 22, 1982, is a Dominican-American professional baseball second baseman who has played for the Diablos Rojos del México in the Mexican League and captains the Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Professional Baseball League. He has played for the New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, San Diego Padres, and Atlanta Braves during his professional career. Cano played for the Yankees from 2005 to 2013 and was part of the 2009 World Series-winning team that defeated the Philadelphia Phillies. During the 2010s, he led all major league players in hits with 1,695, doubles with 363, and total bases with 2,801. He has earned eight MLB All-Star selections, five Silver Slugger Awards, and two Gold Glove Awards throughout his career. Cano was named MVP of the 2017 All-Star Game and won the 2011 Home Run Derby. He captured both a gold medal and the Most Valuable Player Award in the 2013 World Baseball Classic tournament.
