Robert Griffin III Biography

Robert Lee Griffin III, born on February 12, 1990, is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the NFL for eight seasons, most notably with the Washington Redskins. Robert Griffin III earned the Heisman Trophy during his tenure with the Baylor Bears football team in 2011. He was selected second overall by the Redskins in the 2012 NFL draft. Griffin achieved the top rookie passer rating and best touchdown–interception ratio in league history, guided the Redskins to a division title in 1999, and received Offensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowl recognition. In his junior year, he recorded 2,001 passing yards and 25 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions, and added 876 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns. During his senior year, Copperas Cove achieved a 13–2 record before losing in the 2007 Class 4A Division I state playoff championship game. Robert Griffin III wore the number III on his jersey during college to differentiate himself from another player named Robert Griffin on the Baylor roster.
