Robert James Gronkowski, born on May 14, 1989, is an American former professional football tight end who played in the National Football League for 11 seasons. Gronkowski, nicknamed Gronk, played nine seasons for the New England Patriots and concluded his career with two seasons for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played college football for the Arizona Wildcats and earned third-team All-American honors as a sophomore in 2008. Gronkowski was chosen by the Patriots in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft and began contributing to the team shortly after being selected. Gronkowski holds the record for most combined receptions (23) and receiving yards (297) by a tight end in Super Bowl history. He also holds the Patriots franchise record for total receiving touchdowns with 79. After high school, he attended the University of Arizona from 2007 to 2009, majoring in pre-business under head coach Mike Stoops.
