Richard Kevin Sherman, born on March 30, 1988, played 11 seasons as a professional football cornerback in the National Football League. He played college football for Stanford, initially as a wide receiver before transitioning to cornerback during his junior year. Sherman was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL draft. During his tenure with the Seahawks, the team led the league in scoring defense from 2012 to 2015, a feat not matched since the 1950s Cleveland Browns. After his time with the Seahawks, Sherman played for the San Francisco 49ers for three seasons and later joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his final NFL season. As a track athlete, he earned USA Today All-American honors in 2005 after winning the California state triple jump title with a mark of 15.44 meters. He graduated from Stanford University in 2010 with a degree in communications and is a member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.
