Reginald Martinez Jackson, born on May 18, 1946, played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball as a right fielder for the Kansas City and Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, and California Angels. Jackson was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993, his first year of eligibility. He contributed to New York's success by helping the Yankees win the American League East divisional pennants in four seasons, three American League championships, and back-to-back World Series titles in 1977 and 1978. Jackson hit 563 career home runs and was selected as an American League All-Star for 14 seasons. He holds the record for most career strikeouts by a batter in Major League Baseball history. Jackson has served as a special advisor to the Houston Astros, and his association with a championship includes Houston's 2022 World Series victory. Over his 21-year career, Jackson led his teams to first place eleven times and experienced only two seasons with a losing record.
