Philip Rivers Biography

Philip Michael Rivers, born December 8, 1981, played 18 seasons in the NFL as a professional quarterback, primarily with the Chargers franchise. He earned ACC Player of the Year and ACC Athlete of the Year honors during his college career at NC State in 2003 and 2004. Selected fourth overall in the 2004 NFL draft by the New York Giants, he was traded to the San Diego Chargers during the draft. During his tenure, Rivers earned eight Pro Bowl selections and led the team to six postseason appearances and four division titles. He helped the Chargers win their first playoff game since 1994 and reach the AFC Championship Game in 2007. Following four years away from the NFL, Rivers re-signed with the Colts near the end of the 2025 season, playing his final three games. Rivers ranks sixth all-time in passing yards and touchdowns, the highest among quarterbacks without a Super Bowl appearance.
