Pete Carroll Biography

Pete Carroll, born September 15, 1951, is an American football coach who has served in leadership roles across collegiate and professional football. Carroll has held head coaching positions in the NFL for 19 seasons, primarily with the Seattle Seahawks, and previously led the USC Trojans for nine seasons. Pete Carroll is one of three head coaches to claim a college football national title with the Trojans and a Super Bowl with the Seahawks. Carroll began his NFL head coaching career with the New York Jets in 1994 and later coached the New England Patriots from 1997 to 1999. His success at the collegiate level led to his return to the NFL in 2010 when he was hired as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Under his leadership, the Seahawks' defense, known as the Legion of Boom, ranked first in scoring defense for four consecutive seasons. Following the 2023 season, Carroll stepped down as head coach to assume an advisory role with the Seahawks.
