Pete Alonso Biography

Peter Morgan Alonso, born December 7, 1994, is an American professional baseball first baseman who has played in Major League Baseball. He has previously played in MLB for the New York Mets. Alonso played college baseball for the Florida Gators before being selected by the Mets in the 2016 MLB draft. Pete Alonso has been selected as an MLB All-Star five times and holds the Mets' record for most home runs. Alonso won the MLB Home Run Derby in 2019 and again in 2021. MLB.com ranked Alonso as New York's fourth-best prospect going into the 2018 season. He became the first player in MLB history since 1900 with 11 extra-base hits in his first 10 career games.
