Pavel Bure Biography

Pavel Vladimirovich Bure, born on 31 March 1971, is a Russian former professional ice hockey player who played the right wing position. Nicknamed "the Russian Rocket," he played 12 seasons in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, and New York Rangers from 1991 to 2003. After seven seasons with the Canucks, he was traded to the Panthers, where he won back-to-back Rocket Richard Trophies as the league's top goal-scorer. In 2017, an NHL panel named Bure one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, he represented Russia in two Olympic Games, winning silver in 1998 and bronze in 2002. After retiring in 2005, he served as general manager for Russia’s national team during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Bure was later honored by the IIHF for his international career and was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2012.
