Paul Skenes Biography

Paul David Skenes, born May 29, 2002, is an American professional baseball pitcher who has played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in Major League Baseball. Skenes made his debut in the Major Leagues during the 2024 season. He has played college baseball for the Air Force Falcons and later transferred to Louisiana State University's Tigers program. Skenes earned the John Olerud Award in 2022 as the top two-way player in college baseball while attending the United States Air Force Academy. After transferring to LSU prior to his junior season, he received national and conference pitcher of the year honors along with the Dick Howser Trophy. He was a key member of the LSU pitching staff during their 2023 Men's College World Series championship campaign and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Skenes has been selected to the All-Star Game in both 2025 and 2026.
