Pat Sullivan Biography

Patrick Joseph Sullivan was born on January 18, 1950, and passed away on December 1, 2019, as an American professional football player and college coach. Sullivan won the Heisman Trophy in 1971 as an All-America quarterback for the Auburn Tigers before playing six seasons in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Redskins. He served as head football coach at Samford University from 2007 to 2014. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Sullivan excelled in three sports during high school at John Carroll Catholic. Standing 6 feet 0 inches and weighing 190 pounds, Sullivan broke school and NCAA passing records over three seasons while guiding his team to a 26–7 record. In his senior year, he completed 162 of 281 passes for 2,012 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was named an Academic All-American and earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration in 1972.
