Ottis Jerome Anderson, born on January 19, 1957, played professional football in the NFL for 14 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Giants. He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes, where he established the school record for rushing yards. Anderson was chosen eighth overall in the 1979 NFL draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. In his first season with the Cardinals, he earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and received Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro recognition after setting the team’s all-time rushing yards record. Traded to the New York Giants in 1986, he contributed to two Super Bowl victories, including Super Bowl XXI and Super Bowl XXV. He was named MVP of Super Bowl XXV, where his performance helped the Giants achieve the record for time of possession in a Super Bowl. Anderson was honored with induction into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.
