Lynn Nolan Ryan Jr. born on January 31, 1947, played as a professional baseball pitcher and later served as a sports executive. Over a record 27-year playing career in Major League Baseball, Ryan pitched for the New York Mets, California Angels, Houston Astros, and Texas Rangers. Ryan had a lifetime win–loss record of 324–292 and was an eight-time All-Star. Ryan's lifetime batting average against of .204 is a major league record. Nolan Ryan played in MLB across four decades and retired more than seven years after the next longest-tenured player from the 1965 draft class. As a senior in 1965, Ryan posted a 19–3 record and guided the Alvin Yellow Jackets to the Texas high school state finals. In 1966, Ryan recorded 307 strikeouts across 202 minor league innings, resulting in a late-season promotion to the New York Mets.
