Nick Mangold Biography

Nicholas Allan Mangold, born January 13, 1984, played his entire 11-season NFL career as a center for the New York Jets until his passing on October 25, 2025. He was selected by the Jets in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft after playing college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Though not ranked by major recruiting services, Mangold participated in the 2002 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He attended Ohio State University and served as a three-year starter at center for the Buckeyes football team. In 2004, Mangold earned All-Big Ten Conference Honorable Mention honors and was named Offensive Lineman of the Week seven times. He was again selected as second-team All-Big Ten in 2005, highlighting his consistent performance. After a standout performance at the 2006 Senior Bowl, Mangold was regarded as the top center available in the 2006 NFL draft, surpassing the 2005 Outland and Rimington Trophy winner Greg Eslinger.
