Nate Archibald Biography

Nathaniel Archibald, known as Tiny, was born on September 2, 1948, and is an American former professional basketball player. Archibald has played 14 years in the National Basketball Association, most notably with the Cincinnati Royals and Kansas City–Omaha Kings. He led the NBA in both scoring and assists during the 1972–73 season, becoming the first player in league history to achieve this dual leadership. Archibald was recruited back to his high school team after a prominent coach from Loyola of Chicago recognized his talent on the playgrounds. Selected 19th overall in the 1970 NBA draft, Archibald joined the Cincinnati Royals as a second-round pick. On March 13, 1971, he scored 47 points in a 136–127 win against the Atlanta Hawks, setting a then-career high. On November 18, 1972, he recorded 51 points and 14 assists in a 127–117 victory over the Houston Rockets.
