Mookie Betts Biography

Markus Lynn Mookie Betts, born October 7, 1992, is an American professional baseball outfielder, shortstop, and second baseman who has played in Major League Baseball. Betts made his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox after progressing through their minor league system. He has earned eight All-Star selections, seven Silver Slugger Awards, six Gold Glove Awards, and was named American League Most Valuable Player in 2018. In 2020, after six seasons with Boston, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and signed a 12-year contract worth $365 million through the 2032 season. Betts has won the World Series with Los Angeles in 2020, 2024, and 2025. He was named Tennessee Boys Bowler of the Year in 2010, achieving a high score of 290 during his youth. In 2011, he played one game for the GCL Red Sox in the rookie Gulf Coast League, recording two hits in four at-bats.
