Mike Mussina Biography

Mike Mussina, nicknamed Moose, played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball as a starting pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees. Mussina was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. He won at least 11 games in 17 consecutive seasons and posted a career .638 winning percentage. A five-time All-Star and seven-time Gold Glove winner, Mussina finished in the top five for the Cy Young Award on six occasions. He scored over 1,000 points in high school basketball, ranking near the top of Montoursville High School's all-time scoring list. Mussina was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 1987 but chose to attend Stanford University instead of signing. He made his professional debut with the Class AA Hagerstown Suns in 1990.
