Mikaela Shiffrin Biography

Mikaela Pauline Shiffrin, born on March 13, 1995, is an American alpine skier who has competed in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup circuit. Shiffrin holds the record for the most World Championship medals among American alpine skiers. In 2023, she was recognized by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. She earned a bronze medal in slalom at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, shortly after recovering from illness. Shiffrin made her World Cup debut on March 11, 2011, in giant slalom at Špindlerův Mlýn in the Czech Republic. She won her first World Cup race in December 2012 at age 17, in a night slalom held in Åre, Sweden. She began the 2014 season in October 2013 with a sixth-place finish in giant slalom in Sölden, Austria, finishing within half a second of the podium.
