Miguel Montero Biography

Miguel Angel Montero Fernandez, born on July 9, 1983, is a Venezuelan-American former professional baseball catcher. He has played in Major League Baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays, and Washington Nationals. Montero was selected as an All-Star twice and won the World Series with the Cubs in 2016. He made his major league debut on September 6, 2006, against the Florida Marlins. In 2007, Montero batted .224 with 10 home runs while platooning with Chris Snyder for the D-Backs, and in 2008 he hit .255 with five home runs. In 2009, Montero began the season with a .200 batting average and three home runs through the first two months. In 2011, after hitting .272 with 10 home runs and 45 RBI, Montero earned his first All-Star Game selection.
