Mickey Redmond Biography

Michael Edward Mickey Redmond was born on December 27, 1947, and is a Canadian former professional hockey player. He has served as a color commentator for Detroit Red Wings games on television for FanDuel Sports Network Detroit. Redmond scored 27 goals during the 1969–70 NHL season while playing for the Montreal Canadiens. Mickey Redmond achieved 50 goals during the 1972–1973 season, becoming the first Red Wing player and seventh in NHL history to do so. John Ogrodnick scored 55 goals in 1985, ending Mickey Redmond's record as the previous season's high scorer. After teammate Delvecchio retired early in the 1973–74 season to become coach, Redmond joined a line with Marcel Dionne. He became only the third player to record back-to-back 50-goal seasons, including 51 goals and 21 power play goals in one campaign.
