Michael Vick Biography

Michael Dwayne Vick, born on June 26, 1980, is an American football coach and former professional quarterback who serves as head coach for the Norfolk State Spartans. He played in the National Football League for 13 seasons and ranks second in quarterback rushing yards, a record he held at the time of his retirement. Vick played college football at Virginia Tech, earning the Archie Griffin Award and Big East Offensive Player of the Year honors in 1999. He was selected first overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL draft, launching his professional career. His NFL career ended in 2007 after he pleaded guilty to involvement in a dog fighting ring and served 21 months in federal prison. After completing his sentence, Vick joined the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2009 season, returning to professional play. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching and was named head football coach at Norfolk State in 2024.
