Mel Renfro, born December 30, 1941, played his entire 14-year NFL career as a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1958, he played halfback for Jefferson High School, where his team included quarterback Terry Baker and fullback Raye Renfro. As a senior in 1959, he played quarterback and was selected all-state as a running back. He scored 32 points that season and set a state record with a 24.1 broad jump. In 1960, he enrolled at the University of Oregon, where he excelled as a two-way football player and All-American halfback and defensive back. He was inducted into the University of Oregon Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.
