Megan Rapinoe Biography

Megan Anna Rapinoe, born on July 5, 1985, is an American former professional soccer player who played as a midfielder and winger. She has played for Seattle Reign FC in the National Women's Soccer League and the United States national team. Rapinoe was named The Best FIFA Women's Player and won the Ballon d'Or Féminin in 2019, and she was part of the national team that won the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2015 and 2019. She co-captained the national team with Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan from 2018 to 2020. During the 2012 London Olympics, Rapinoe scored three goals and recorded four assists to help the U.S. win gold. As a child, Rapinoe began playing soccer at age three after being inspired by Brian. From 2002 to 2005, Rapinoe played alongside her sister Rachael and future teammate Stephanie Cox for the Elk Grove Pride in the Women's Premier Soccer League.
