Maurice Clarett Biography

Maurice Edward Clarett, born October 29, 1983, is an American former football running back. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Maurice Clarett was chosen by the Denver Broncos with the 101st overall pick in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft. Clarett unsuccessfully challenged the NFL's draft eligibility rules that required a player to be three years removed from high school. Clarett moved to Warren G. Harding High School after playing as a freshman tailback at Austintown-Fitch High School and gained widespread recognition. Maurice Clarett chose Ohio State University after receiving offers from Notre Dame, Fresno State, and the University of Miami. Maurice Clarett holds the distinction of being the first freshman to lead a national championship team in rushing since Ahman Green in 1995.
